Press TV Telegram posts timed at 02:15 UTC and 06:26 UTC on 6 September relayed a matching claim. One described the target as a Remotely Operated Vessel belonging to the US military in Iran's southern coast. The other described a USV attempting to enter the protected zone of the Strait of Hormuz and quoted warnings that enemy moves were under watch and would be decisively targeted. Two other Telegram posts summarized the same attributed claim. A post by AMK Mapping said the naval forces of the IRGC attacked a US drone boat that was attempting to enter the protected area of the Strait of Hormuz. A post by Intel Slava said the IRGC Navy announced that it destroyed a US Navy unmanned surface vessel attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz. Those summaries add no independent detail beyond restating the attributed announcement.

The claimed missile fire at a carrier and destroyer

A separate set of posts attributed a heavier claim to the IRGC Aerospace Force. An IRNA post timed at 05:57 UTC on 6 September said the Aerospace Force had targeted a US aircraft carrier and a destroyer with several ballistic missiles during what it called an ongoing maritime confrontation. That post quoted the attributed statement as saying the two American warships had been involved in disrupting Iranian shipping and participating in a naval blockade.

Press TV posts timed at 22:50 UTC on 5 September and at 02:30 UTC and 03:33 UTC on 6 September relayed the same attributed claim, saying several ballistic missiles were launched at a US aircraft carrier and an American destroyer. IRNA and Press TV posts further claimed, in the words of the attributed statements, that both vessels suffered damage and withdrew from the area fearing further attacks. One of those posts described the footage as debunking US allegations of effectively supporting trespassing vessels' transit through the waterway. The tanker claim and what remains unverified

Press TV posts timed at 21:30 UTC and 21:45 UTC on 5 September relayed another attributed IRGC Navy claim, saying three United States linked vessels and three trespassing oil tankers were struck in retaliation for earlier American attacks on Iranian tankers, according to the posts. One related post added a warning to all vessels against choosing unauthorized routes to transit Hormuz. The IRNA and Press TV missile posts also include an IRGC assertion that the United States had been forced to acknowledge that two naval vessels had come under attack, with one post referring to US Central Command acknowledgment.
